Welcome to the Schützengruppe war academy!
The popularity level of Schützengruppe is now so high that the game entered in the FIW (Italian Wargames Federation) league for the best italian wargame player of the 2011 and, obviously, of the 2011 so, an entire virtual war academy was required by italian players. Thanks to it, new players will learn how to create well balanced units that also are historical ones; no more a science fiction units more similar to a white bleeded Pz Division of late '45 that to a real military unit.
The game's Old Grognard will use the Academy to learn new combat tactics and reporting to the other "students" their experiences. This page will be an endless work as you'll receive the access permit to new "rooms" as they will be completed and new files will be ready and downloadables like the 1940 Norway Campaign scenarioes that can be played one at the time or linked together for a small campaign game.
Schützengruppe is the Giacomo Fedele and Luigi De Finis (both former Italian Alpini Officers) for the ones who dares to play "serious" WWII company level battles. Each player job is to command a reinforced company with all the problems that this role carries within. Using a new intactive activation system, the player must use his platoons to fullfill the tasks required by his mission forcing his enemy to let him the day and his soldiers to throw their hearts over the obstables controlling the fear.
The game is very different from the usual ones as the player main role is not to maximize single weapons capabilities (combat requires to roll a single D12 die) but to use his activation points to obtain the maximum result by the minimum effort and this can onlòy be obtained mantaining the right officers at the right place in the right time.
Schützengruppe is definitely not a "power-game"... Sent forward your tank alone and you'll see it burning bright after the bloody infantry will have reached it. Schützengruppe players are not the ones used to roll a bucket full of dice but the ones used to have a plan and that require to the rules a little bit of "reality".
The base manual includes all the rules required to play and the 1939/40 Axis & Allies armies ToEs and players can play well balanced games on the standard 80cm side square tournament battlefield with 5-15mm miniatures.
The Barbarossa manual gives you all the 1941 ToEs (not the american ones) and new rules for Aircraft/Antiaircraft, combat engineeers, minefields, fortifications and recce units.
